Rustem Guardian’s Gareth Jones advised Haresh Mehta in this unusual Private Prosecution brought in Southampton Crown Court. The victim wore google glasses to covertly record his bully after the police failed to act on his calls. Mr Mehta privately prosecuted the Defendant who pleaded guilty considering the strength of the evidence. The CPS reviewed the evidence and concluded the case was to be heard considering both parties had sufficient legal representation.
The widespread availability of digital video technology means many more cases involving conclusive video evidence of crimes could be used in court by individuals seeking justice as well as by police officers.
