R v LY

LY faced two counts of bribery, contrary to the Bribery Act 2010, and one count of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence contrary to the Firearms Act 1968. The allegation against LY was that he attempted to bribe his professor, Mr G, with £5000 in order for him to pass his postgraduate dissertation. It was alleged that when his professor refused to accept the cash, LY produced an air pistol and directed it towards his professor. Despite there being a potential 6 year prison term, Cassy successfully mitigated on behalf of LY resulting in him only serving 6 months of a 12 month prison sentence. The case was widely reported by BBC News UK as well as on international news.
